Buffalo Gals are the UK’s favourite Old Time Country String Band! At the forefront of the current wave of American roots-inspired music, the Gals represent a revival of the old string band tradition in its most vibrant form, with their live shows uniquely punctuated by the stunning and thrillingly syncopated traditional Appalachian step-dance that has become one of their trademarks.

Kentucky Cow Tippers
The Kentucky Cow Tippers are the North East's finest bluegrass conglomerate. Founded in 2008.
The Vanguards are a five-piece traditional bluegrass band, mostly based in London. They take their musical inspiration from the originators of bluegrass music. Instrumentally, they seek to create a sound which blends the mandolin style of Bill Monroe, the banjo style of Ralph Stanley and the old-time style of fiddling which typified early bluegrass recordings and which continues to influence the sound of Dr. Ralph Stanley & The Clinch Mountain Boys into the present day.
The Old Grey Dogs
The Old Grey Dogs are Joe on banjo and vocals, Bob on guitar and vocals and Barry on mandolin and fiddle. For a mixture of Newgrass, Bluegrass and Americana music you will be hard pressed to find anyone much better.
The Allen Family
Geary sings and plays guitar and banjo, is a close follower of classic styles of picking and singing. Toby sings and plays bass and also plays many other instruments including guitar, clarinet and flute. Ruby sings and plays guitar and autoharp in her own unique style and says “Johnny Cash” is her biggest influence. Josh sings and plays guitar, banjo and fiddle in the old time mountain music style. Pete sings and plays the fiddle and mandolin.
New Essex Bluegrass Band
Since 1994, the New Essex Bluegrass Band has enjoyed over twenty years as perhaps the most traditional sounding of all the UK bluegrass bands. The material comes from the repertoires of the early bluegrass bands, Bill Monroe, Flatt & Scruggs, Stanley Brothers, Reno & Smiley, and Jim & Jesse, as well as more modern bands who have created fresh new work in the same tradition.
